Food Intolerance

What is Lactose Intolerance?

IBD is a term used to describe Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis which cause inflammation of the bowel wall. Ulcerative Colitis causes inflammation of the lining of the colon and the rectum whilst Crohn’s disease causes inflammation of the full thickness of the bowel wall and may occur anywhere in the gastrointestinal tract. The cause of IBD is unknown.

How is it managed?

People with IBD will experience periods when the disease is active and times when it’s not active, resulting in various symptoms that affect what you eat and drink. The type of diet which  you follow is important and you may need to change it at different stages of your disease.

Why see a Dietitian?

A dietitian can provide you with the right guidance and support to manage your symptoms, prevent malnutrition and weight loss, whilst also making sure that your diet is nutritionally complete.
